MrQ

Why MrQ checked your credit file, and what it keeps

To confirm identity and age. MrQ’s help centre says one of its sign-up checks, the UK Credit Header, can show on a credit file as a soft search that leaves the credit score untouched. Its privacy notice, last updated on 28 May 2026, also covers financial-vulnerability checks and data used against fraud and gambling harm.

The licence requires MrQ to confirm that every player is over 18 and who they say they are, and the check may appear as a soft search on your credit file. According to MrQ, a soft search does not affect a credit score or the ability to borrow, even when more than one appears. It uses the legal name, date of birth, mobile number and address.

Financial-vulnerability, source-of-funds and risk-profiling checks

Financial checks described in MrQ’s privacy notice (V2, 28 May 2026)
CheckWhat the notice saysWhy, in MrQ’s words
Financial vulnerabilityCarried out through a third partyTo comply with its obligations under the Social Responsibility code of the LCCP
Source of fundsChecks where money in the account may not come from the account holderCustomer due diligence and anti-money-laundering duties
Risk profilingBuilt from personal, behavioural and account data, and from public sourcesTo minimise the risk of gambling harm

Credit reference agencies feed the financial-vulnerability checks. The Gambling Commission’s light-touch checks cover a net deposit of more than £150 a month, and it said in 2024 that neither those checks nor its financial risk assessment pilot would affect consumer credit ratings. Source-of-funds timing: MrQ review.

Data types in MrQ’s privacy notice

  • Identity and checks: registration details, identity and address documents, and proof of payment methods.
  • Due diligence: nationality, occupation, employment, salary, source of income and wealth, and sanctions and politically-exposed-person screening.
  • Safer gambling: limits, session length, wagers, losses and wins, and financial-vulnerability indicators, including insolvency and bankruptcy records and County Court Judgements.
  • Devices: IP address, internet provider, VPN and proxy use, location, and WebGL and Canvas fingerprints.
  • Conversations: chats and emails and, for calls, the voice and a recording.

The notice adds that MrQ may collect previous criminal convictions from public sources, and keep health information a player shares where needed to protect them.

Sharing within the operator’s group and beyond

Your personal data may be shared with other companies within the MrQ group. They go unnamed, and the phrase establishes no sister site: the register lists one domain and one trading name on MrQ’s licence, as the homepage shows.

Outside the group it names payment and service providers (credit reference agencies, identity and anti-money-laundering checks, game providers, anti-fraud services, advertisers among them), regulators and law enforcement, and any buyer of the business, some outside the UK and EU under adequacy rules or approved clauses. A third-party AI agent answers queries, trained on anonymised data, and a player may ask for a human agent at any time.

Copies, deletion and MrQ’s data addresses

What MrQ’s help centre and privacy notice say about data requests
RequestHowHow long MrQ says it takes
Deposit, transaction and game historyMuch of it is in the account alreadyNo request needed
A statement or other simple requestEmail from the address registered to the account1 to 3 days once MrQ has what it needs
A subject access request (a copy of the data)Email from the registered address, or confirm the account detailsWithin one month; longer for complex requests, with notice
DeletionConfirm that deletion, rather than closure alone, is wanted, and prove identityNot straight away: some data is kept for at least 5 years

The help centre sends access requests to support@mrq.com and the notice to dataprivacy@mrq.com, so a request to both is safest. The help centre says MrQ is legally required to keep certain player information for at least 5 years, while the notice names no fixed period. Unresolved complaints go to the Information Commissioner’s Office or the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta.

Marketing opt-outs and the messages that continue

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and the account’s marketing section sets what arrives. MrQ relies on consent for marketing, and profiling for it can be refused at any time, but security and account messages still come through.
