MrQ limits, time-outs and self-exclusion: what each reaches
If you’re reading about MrQ because gambling has started to cost more than you meant it to, a limit or a time-out in your account is the quickest step today. A MrQ self-exclusion reaches only MrQ’s own sites, so to block other British casinos as well, register with GAMSTOP, which covers every participating site licensed in Great Britain. Each MrQ tool and the free helplines follow.

A short self-check from MrQ’s help centre
MrQ’s help centre suggests a few questions to ask yourself. One is Are you chasing losses?
Others ask whether you’re borrowing money or using credit to gamble, and whether gambling is affecting your work, your relationships or your sleep. If any answer is yes, set a limit or take a break now, before the next session rather than after it.
Limits, reality checks, time-outs and self-exclusion on the account
- Deposit limits, either on everything paid in or on net deposits (deposits minus withdrawals), daily, weekly or monthly, with the strictest one applying. Lowering one takes effect straight away, raising one means waiting out a day-long cooling-off and then confirming it again.
- Reality checks, a reminder of your playing time after a period you choose, from 30 minutes up to four hours.
- Time-out, a break lasting from 24 hours to six weeks, when you can’t log in at all.
- Self-exclusion, set for anywhere between six months and five years, or permanently on request. The account closes and you can’t cut the period short:
Once you have self-excluded this cannot be reversed
.
Each one is set in the Limits or Safer Gambling section of the account, or by emailing support@mrq.com.
How far a MrQ exclusion reaches, and GAMSTOP beyond it
MrQ’s terms extend a self-exclusion to your MrQ account and any future websites operated by us
. The Gambling Commission account behind MrQ lists a single domain, and no other current site of the operator was found. For every other casino, MrQ’s terms leave it to you, encouraging you to extend the exclusion to accounts held with other operators.
A GAMSTOP registration is the one-step block. Its terms of use say activation generally happens within 24 hours but isn’t guaranteed, so treat the first day as unprotected. MrQ’s help centre lists the periods as 6 months, a year and 5 years, and warns that Gamstop only covers UK-licensed gambling companies.
When the minimum period ends, the exclusion carries on until you ask GAMSTOP to lift it. If you never do, its terms keep it for up to seven more years and then deactivate it, unless you chose automatic five-year renewal, which starts a new period instead.
MrQ’s safer gambling page also suggests asking your bank or card issuer to block gambling payments, and mentions blocking software such as Gamban and GamBlock.
Free helplines, GAMSTOP’s line and other support
National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare: 0808 8020 133, a free call at any time of day or night, according to the NHS. It’s the number MrQ’s own safer gambling page lists under GamCare.
NHS Wales gambling helpline: 0808 2819 265, a separate 24/7 service for people in Wales, opened on 1 April 2026 by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Calls cost nothing, including from a mobile that has run out of credit.
GAMSTOP: 0800 138 6518, the number MrQ gives for the national self-exclusion scheme, open from 8am to midnight.
Also listed on MrQ’s safer gambling page: GamCare, Gambling Therapy and Gamblers Anonymous. Each one’s own site gives its hours.
Moving to a different casino so that a limit or an exclusion no longer applies defeats the reason you set it. If that’s the pull you feel, it’s the moment to call one of the lines above.
